Our circular economy: From waste to dye
Our spring colors are created from local resources that would otherwise end up in the trash. This way, we close cycles and create something valuable from what would otherwise be considered waste:
We collect avocado pits for our peach blossom pink at the Cologne restaurant "Los Carnales." What's left over after making guacamole becomes our valuable coloring.
Red onion skins for our olive grove clay come from the Cologne burger restaurant "Die Fette Kuh." These skins produce amazing green hues!
We collect black tea for our sandy beach clay from our friends – tea scraps that would otherwise end up in the compost.
We only import our Cutch extract (for Sonnenerde) as a sustainable plant extract, since the tanner's acacia does not grow in our latitudes.
This creates a double sustainability effect: We dye textiles from discarded materials that would otherwise be thrown away. Resource conservation at its best!
