Introduction to Indigo – T-Shirt & Scarf

A quiet indigo workshop at the Cosmaki Atelier:
You're working with a natural indigo vat, dyeing a unisex T-shirt and a small scarf. Two projects, two layers – one process that takes time and is precisely what makes it work.
We begin with the cloth.
You will test folds, bindings and simple patterns and learn how indigo develops depth layer by layer.
Next, you dye a unisex T-shirt – prepared, light, and natural.
Through repetitions and short waiting periods, a color gradient is created that is never the same. Everything remains calm, clear, and focused.
The vat is based on natural indigo and is freshly prepared in the studio.
All textiles are prepared (pre-treated, washed) and ready for dyeing.
The dyed pieces will be washed and ironed in the studio after the workshop. You can pick them up a few days later – or have them sent to you by post for €6.50.

Duration & Framework

- We work exclusively with pre-treated textiles to ensure the colors last a long time.
Optional:
You can select additional textiles on site (e.g., another pair of socks). If you dye an extra project, your time in the studio will be extended by about 30 minutes – we'll allow plenty of time for that.
Arrival
- The studio is located in the machwerkhaus in Cologne-Kalk (Dillenburger Str. 77c, 51105 Cologne).
- You will find the studio in the quiet main street - parallel to Dillenburger Str.
- Arriving by public transport is recommended (stops Köln Kalk Kapelle or Kalk Post).
- Parking options in the surrounding area are limited.

Note: The workshop will take place with a minimum of 2 participants. If the minimum number of participants is not reached, we reserve the right to cancel the workshop or find an alternative date together.

Free of charge up to 48 hours in advance, after that a 50% cancellation fee applies.
Your access to the studio
The beginner's workshop is the first step to working independently in the Cosmaki studio.
After participating, you can purchase a studio pass and use our dyeing stations outside of the workshops – for your own projects, at your own pace.
You will receive more information about the Atelier Pass directly in the workshop.
